Graduation is a crucially important time for every high school and college student, as it officially marks a major transition to the next phase of life. It's an opportunity to celebrate exciting new chapters and endless opportunities. If you're one of the lucky ones flipping your tassel this spring, then your big day is just around the corner and you're likely filled with a number of mixed emotions.

Here at Skin Maven, we want to congratulate you, first and foremost! We'd also like to be sure you look and feel fabulous in every photo opportunity. Since graduations tend to be accompanied by tears, laughter and even early summer sweat, we have a few simple graduation beauty suggestions to help you look your best on this memorable day.

Wear an SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen:

We're assuming your graduation will be outside, directly under the sun while it's shining the strongest. This is why sunscreen is absolutely essential! Apply it generously to all exposed areas, including your ears, neck and entire face (even throughout the time you're wearing a cap!).

Use both moisturizer and a makeup primer under your foundation:
Evenly moisturized skin will allow makeup to hold longer and appear smoother, while a great primer will keep your foundation from slipping, fading or running. On the day of graduation you'll naturally want your makeup to last without having to worry about how it looks, so these two products are essential.

Wear waterproof mascara and eyeliner:
This one's easy. You may cry tears of joy, sadness or both. The last thing you want to be concerned about is dark streaks on your face. Go waterproof and you won't have to look into a mirror (or camera phone) every 20 minutes.

A week or so before graduation, have a facial:
Get your skin radiant, bright and clear by graduation day with a detoxifying and skin-energizing facial to ensure you're picture and makeup ready. We have a multitude of different facials and can help you choose one that is perfect for your individual skin type and its current condition. If you have breakouts as a result of intense study sessions or exam stress leading up to graduation, a facial could be just what you need.

Wear lip gloss instead of lipstick:
Avoid bold colored lipstick, as it may run or smudge throughout the day. We recommend lighter pink shades rather than red. Lip gloss can also be easily reapplied throughout the day.

Don't forget to smile!

You deserve it! Take a moment to shine and be proud of all you've accomplished. It's important to take time to celebrate your hard work and achievement.

Before receiving your diploma, if there's anything you need from us here at Skin Maven to help you feel confident and radiant, be sure to stop by. Remember that everything beautiful ahead of you lies in your hands, including your skin.
